(More customer reviews)This book may not be to everyone's taste. It is a shameless sendup of series books, particularly "Nancy Drew." The humor is off-color, even raunchy at times with heavy emphasis on Gay themes and some racially charged humor but I heartily enjoyed it overall. It's good mindless fun perfect for late night or beach book reading and I was sorry when the book came to an end. I hope that kindle will be releasing parts 1-39 soon for download. As for those who said this book was racist they obviously did not read the forward which cautioned the reader that this book is not making fun of minorities only of the way series books treated minorities in the 1950s. Anyone who takes this book seriously---Deserves to.
A note re my rating: Does this book really deserve a Four Star? No, I think a 2.5 to 3 is more accurate. The writing is uneven due to fact that each chapter is written by a different author, with the two authors taking turns. Of the two authors Michael Cornelius is the funnier while Kate Emburg tends to flog her jokes to death, if I could buy only the chapters written by Michael I probably would have. Still, after reading the previous One Star reviews written by people who hadn't gotten past the Sample I felt I had to inflate my rating a little just so potential buyers wouldn't be turned off by its One and a Half Star average which I feel is unfairly harsh.
